New Campus in Kamata, Tokyo: School of Design and School of Health Sciences Opened
Since its foundation, Tokyo University of Technology has set practical education as one of its guiding principles and has been promoting education and research in advanced areas such as media, bionics, nanotechnology, and ICT at three schools in Hachioji, Tokyo: the School of Media Science, the School of Bioscience and Biotechnology, and the School of Computer Science. In April 2010, in response to the growing demands of the times, it added two schools at its newly-built Kamata Campus in southern Tokyo: the School of Design and the School of Health Sciences, which consists of the Department of Nursing, the Department of Clinical Engineering, the Department of Physical Therapy, and the Department of Occupational Therapy. With the opening of the Kamata campus, Tokyo University of Technology has taken a significant step forward to becoming a full-fledged institution of research and higher learning, covering a diverse range of science and technology from bionics and computers to media, design, and health care.
