Speech is one of the most fundamental and important means in human-human communication. Speech signals can convey not only linguistic information that can be written in letters but also information such as intention, emotion, and attitude. In our laboratory, we focus on prosody, which is a feature of pitch, length and strength of speech utterance, and research to generate and estimate various expressions for speech synthesis and speech recognition. There is uniqueness in the approach that utilizes an excellent model that controls the fundamental frequency contours of speech. In our laboratory, we are conducting research aimed at expressive speech like emotion. In addition, we are developing and evaluating methods for correcting both pronunciation and intonation of foreign language learners. |
