Recently, Tokyo University of Technology (TUT) proposed a program of “the Practical Education of Global Contents Bridging Human Resource for Next Generation” for the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
The proposal was selected to be granted subsidies in Fiscal Year 2008 of Asia Human Resource Fund, the Project of the Development of Highly Specialized Foreign Students which METI and MEXT undertake. TUT now opens for highly talented Asian students who are interested in the filed of contents industry in Japan.
■Background
METI and MEXT launched the initiative called Asia Human Resource Fund in FY 2007 with the aim of fostering the development of advanced and innovative professionals who can contribute to Japanese industry through (1) the Project of the Development of Highly Specialized Foreign Students and (2) the Project of the Development of Highly Practical Foreign Students.
The fund has been offering comprehensive assistance from scholarship to recruitment for competent and motivated Asian students who are studying in Japan with the intention of obtaining jobs at Japanese companies.
■Program Outline
This program is carried out based on the following three principles.
1. It aims to support globalization of contents industry which is a priority industry of Japan.
2. It offers comprehensive and practical education for the Asian foreign students who can fully utilize
the contents work environment and the comprehensive curriculum of Tokyo University of Technology.
3. It develops advanced professionals who can serve as a business bridge connecting Japan with other
Asian countries.
【Conditions for Application】
(1). The applicants should have Japanese proficiency which can respond to a Japanese lecture.
(The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test Level 4*)
(2). Undergraduate degree in one of the following fields of study and good knowledge of that filed.
A.Media contents production (e.g. animation, game, etc.)
B.Contents development (e.g. programming, system development, etc.)
(3). The applicants should participate in all the programs with Asia Human Resource Fund including
Japanese language education program and internship program.
(4). The applicants should have strong intention and motivation to work for Japanese contents
companies after completing the course.
(5). The applicants need come to or stay in Japan with student visa and should join the course by
the end of September 2008.
* The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test Level 4: It covers basic grammar, around 100 kanji and
800 vocabularies, ability to make simple conversation, read and write short or simple sentences
(The level can be reached after studying for 150 hours).
【Compensation Package】
For Japanese government scholarship student with university recommendation
TUT shall recommend all students selected to this program to be candidates for Japanese government
scholarship. However, the candidates should pass examination of applicant’s qualification conducted
by MEXT. Only after the examination, government scholarship is provided for the candidates who are
selected as the Japanese government scholarship student. Even if not qualified, the candidates can join
the program without scholarship.
